[QUOTE="savagetwinkie"] considering there isn't a real game out there that uses a full 4 cores I think 360's 3 being almost completely dedicated to a game probably has plenty of head room for those games, where it fails is memory and graphics, and memory mostly effects graphics.RyviusARCThe Xbox 360 CPU is pretty weak today. When it came out is was pretty good although high end dual cores at the time still had it beat. And there are many games which utilize 4 cores.... not 100% utilization, they share it with an os, and most games barely push 3/4 cores which is why a core i7 isn't much better than a core i5 with games.. the 360 3 cores are still capable of processing plenty for what it needs,
edit: also a 360 has 2 threads per core, a core i5 has 1 thread per core... and going from 3 to 4 cores on the desktop you get very little benefit in most games, and this is without hyper threading stepping up to a core i7 which has 2 threads per core.
I say someone needs to make Sim City 5 with cyrsis graphics, now thats a game that show how far PC has come....or rollercoaster tycoon
I would literally go out and buy an insane graphics card if that happened. Loved Sim City4 and all the Rollercoaster Tycoon games (although 3 was iffy; weird AI and wasn't optimized that well)I say someone needs to make Sim City 5 with cyrsis graphics, now thats a game that show how far PC has come....or rollercoaster tycoon

[QUOTE="The_Pacific"]Name one game which PC has thats "constantly advancing" :roll:NoodleFighter
Crysis and all its mods.
Its a Pseudo free roaming FPS, thats been done on consoles. Thats not what i'd call "constantly advancing"[QUOTE="NoodleFighter"][QUOTE="The_Pacific"]Name one game which PC has thats "constantly advancing" :roll:The_Pacific

Thats not what i'd call "constantly advancing"LOL all the free roaming FPS on consoles look like utter #$$%&^* in comparison to Crysis, All those games use cell streaming and Far Cry 2 shows how bad that is. Show me a console game with massive Dynamic lighting, no re/spawning AI, physics and destructability on a scale big as Crysis while doing all this on a 1GB map.
This threadpretty much proves hermits care most about graphics. Not cows, lemmings or sheep.

Right... there's never a graphics king console topic... never!
I will never understand why people must start a system war including the PC. We all know that consoles can't compete with it but while you're building up your "super computer" throwing $100's of dollars towards a see through case, I'm spending the same money on numerous games, playing while you're trying to build something from nothing. While I myself have been caught up in the PC builds, I steer away from gaming monster builds because of the ridiculous amount of funds and like you said, it's ever changing, so go ahead and put an i7 processor in, who knows a couple of months from now a newer, faster, more robust processor may be upon us forcing you to purchase and equipt so that you're not stuck in a desolate time where graphics and speed mean nothing.
[QUOTE="Arach666"][QUOTE="Laharl5"]Pure gaming? Of course when you ignore all the features that Sony and Microsoft are pushing this gen that have nothing to do with gaming. :oConsoles are for pure gaming. I support them.

My point is when i look at a console, I want to play games with it. When I look at a PC, it reminds me of doing a homework or project lol. Nahh. Consoles are just easier to use and gaming in a controller is lesser hassle than keyboard/mouse.
Extreme knowledge is not a requirement to game on a PC. PCs have more help screens than any other platform. The only time it becomes necessary to have a high level of knowledge is if you're building your own PC from scratch.Console gaming = less confusing, easier to use, and cheaper hardware.
This is how it has always been and this is why the consoles have been popular. When a person sees a PC they don't see a gaming machine, they see a tool to access the internet, write documents, store music, maybe watch internet videos, and play some basic games. When somebody sees an Xbox 360 they see an easy-to-use and quite affordable gaming device.
Sure the PC's can do everything a console can, but usually that adds a big hassle for anybody who's not extremely knowledgeable about PCs. This is why the consoles are there. People don't want to mess with upgrades or anything, they want to put in the game and play. Simple and fun.

Those help screens totally helped me the other day when I spent 3 hours trying to figure out why The Longest Journey wouldn't install onto Windows 7.
[QUOTE="Greyfeld"]For the first time, I played The Longest Journey on my PC with Windows Vista. I managed to get it to run with minimal difficulty. Then I attempted to download it on my mother's PC with Windows 7, and couldn't get it to properly install despite 3 solid hours of google search and tinkering with settings and downloadable programs. Oddly, if I want to share a PS3 game I own with my friend, the game will run without issue with 99.9% certainty. This topic is new and exciting. I'm glad that people can come up with interesting, never-before-seen topics to discuss in this forum.topsemag55Set you mom up with an account on GoG, she can buy the game from them.:)
The fact that there may be a solution to the problem doesn't erase the fact that trying to install and play a game on a PC was a massively bigger headache than a similar situation would have been for consoles.
